This Vertical Studio was led by Coy Howard, who gave no restrictions to the studio but only focused on the deeper relationship the building's material has with both the site, program, and individual. The concept for this project was to find a connection between the neighborhood and the site is given. Through the extraction of selected building masses, I began to manipulate these “shapes” to better highlight their strongest attribute. The slope of the site makes the shapes even more distinctive. At the same time, indoor and outdoor pools of different shapes and sizes could bring tourists different experiences.
Each renders highlights key moments throughout the building that allow the material to bring out the original shapes used to create certain spaces.
